Words: Jason De Photography: Variety of Photographers. Some say a car is an extension of your body, a reflection on your personality. You share so many good and bad moments together. For me owning my KE70 was more than just a means of transport. It was freedom. The freedom to drive around aimlessly, see friends and of course commute to work. First purchasing this car stock standard as the 3rd owner was great! It had 4 new tyres, body was fairly decent and the best bit, it only cost me $750 clams with 6 months rego! SCORE! After owning it for less than a week BA rear king springs were inserted into the rear and fronts were cut. Such a nasty ride once the shocks gave out. The idea was to source 86 parts but hey life goes on. Soon enough the diff pulled out, cleaned with a toothbrush and welded. It never did let go and it has been welded for over 2 years! A couple of weeks later i had a stack. To hard, too soon. This is probably the reason for most of my defects. Rolling around without a front bar can attract the wrong attention real fast! As the life of the Corolla continued it got painted a couple of times, Different wheels, different colours. Basically things you could afford to do on a part time wage. Interior bits and pieces magically grew stickers all over them, door trims got painted. I was bored and creative. I can’t say that this car got good attention but it was fun and i really enjoyed every moment of it. Here are some photographs during my ownership of the Corolla (no particular order). So enjoy them! PS: Sorry to the grammar natzi’s! Day 1. When i picked her up! Paulie from Justice Crew came to check out the new wheels! TAFE assignment (Graphic Design) which we had to create a colour wheel. I took it literally! 25mm spacers because Fitment Freak! Handed this in! This seat cost more in defects than it did to purchase. LOL. Bout that life. Glow in the dark paint. Boot Full o Paint! 4KC pedal pusher. Aleks at the wash. Always rolling the three around. Best Days! Photoshoot life! Yes i drove around with these on. Yes i got away from the police at times but YES they did catch me, on my birthday Window Tints thanks to my man at Custom Kid Industries! M A G I C ! Fitment Freak Brothers! R U N. Dripping. I purchased my e30 2dr 318i of his brother Adam back in 2008. These plates have been passed from one generation to the next and it will be interesting to see how long they last. Just a little history. Enjoy the photos!

So the crew from All Stars x Zen garage held a free BBQ at Zen! With the sun shining & tunes pumping, you could tell it was going to be a great start to the weekend, so much so the car park was full! Claudio manning the BBQ! Our own Aleks performing his ‘Straya C*NT’ impersonation. Stephen arrived at Zen sporting his new look wheels so we decided to take a closer look! Freshly painted candy teal XXR 521’s with nice touch of pearl flake! James’ FD1 Civic now static, still low! We approve! A bit of nostalgia is always a must. Overall, it was a great day. A lot of new people were met. These are the types of days that brings the car community together as one no matter what style of modification you’re in or what car you drive. A BIG thanks to Zen Garage and All Stars for these types of days.

All Stars: Spring Picnic 2012

Part 2: Photos by Jake De With our culture under constant scrutiny from the media’s watchful eye, events and gatherings as such have not been occurring in full swing like we used to see in the not so distant past, constant cruise’s and gatherings were quiet the norm. Now it is nearly taboo to be an enthusiast centred around vehicles of any kind.Had you worried there didn’t I? Well breathe easy friends because rest assured the scene is not dead and with All Stars: Spring Picnic in full swing, people alike are not shy to gather and share the passion of what we are all truly in it for, the car’s right? The spring sun was shining, the grass was green, sausages were sizzling, the stage was clearly set for us eager’s to roll out and roll up to the “spring picnic”. Soon enough Silverwater park was crawling with dozens upon dozens of modified vehicles from the classic restored to the neat daily and sure enough the big horsepower hitters were also out to steal some of the sun’s spring ray’s. We had a vast array of vehicles many crowd favorites were out such as Sergio Capozzi’s Midnight purple wide body Silvia which was sitting pretty at the All Stars stand for all to see. Zomaya’s EVO was on display for all to see where the get-down gets down! The Ke70 army was out, low loud and proud to show their glorified humble Toyota corolla’s which have chosen a path in life that Toyota engineers never would of envisioned at the moment of the car’s release. Food & drinks were available on the day by the All Stars crew. Patiently waiting in a long queue! This is the beauty of our culture we all walk a common ground even if we hate to admit it. We all walk the same path, we just wear different shoes, trends in the automotive world are not set in stone, they are constantly evolving and people alike growing with them or putting a twist on them to create car’s that represent who they are and reflect upon that. Gatherings like the Spring Picnic which was simply an event thrown together by the Capozzi brothers really demonstrated this and showed that Sydney still knows how to do it.
