Words: Jason De Photography: Variety of Photographers. Some say a car is an extension of your body, a reflection on your personality. You share so many good and bad moments together. For me owning my KE70 was more than just a means of transport. It was freedom. The freedom to drive around aimlessly, see friends and of course commute to work. First purchasing this car stock standard as the 3rd owner was great! It had 4 new tyres, body was fairly decent and the best bit, it only cost me $750 clams with 6 months rego! SCORE! After owning it for less than a week BA rear king springs were inserted into the rear and fronts were cut. Such a nasty ride once the shocks gave out. The idea was to source 86 parts but hey life goes on. Soon enough the diff pulled out, cleaned with a toothbrush and welded. It never did let go and it has been welded for over 2 years! A couple of weeks later i had a stack. To hard, too soon. This is probably the reason for most of my defects. Rolling around without a front bar can attract the wrong attention real fast! As the life of the Corolla continued it got painted a couple of times, Different wheels, different colours. Basically things you could afford to do on a part time wage. Interior bits and pieces magically grew stickers all over them, door trims got painted. I was bored and creative. I can’t say that this car got good attention but it was fun and i really enjoyed every moment of it. Here are some photographs during my ownership of the Corolla (no particular order). So enjoy them! PS: Sorry to the grammar natzi’s! Day 1. When i picked her up! Paulie from Justice Crew came to check out the new wheels! TAFE assignment (Graphic Design) which we had to create a colour wheel. I took it literally! 25mm spacers because Fitment Freak! Handed this in! This seat cost more in defects than it did to purchase. LOL. Bout that life. Glow in the dark paint. Boot Full o Paint! 4KC pedal pusher. Aleks at the wash. Always rolling the three around. Best Days! Photoshoot life! Yes i drove around with these on. Yes i got away from the police at times but YES they did catch me, on my birthday Window Tints thanks to my man at Custom Kid Industries! M A G I C ! Fitment Freak Brothers! R U N. Dripping. About that 70 Life.

It’s not every day you see a couple that share the same interests let alone drive the same type of car! I’m sure the majority of automotive enthusiasts would love for their partner to share the same interests if they haven’t already been forced into doing so. Alex and Julie both had an idea of how they wanted to modify their cars and so their journey began. Being a small fish in a big pond can be quite stressful at times and lets face it, we all need an outlet. Alex uses his car as his outlet. Not only is this car daily driven but also a track warrior! Alex’s Type S is rolling on 17×9 +22 Enkei RPF1s wrapped in 235/45 Dunlop tyres. It has been professionally lowered on Buddyclub RSD coilovers and is rocking a Hardrace rear camber kit and Hardrace RCA’s (Roll Center Adjusters). Upgraded PCI offset bushings help stabilize the car. To complete the look, Alex added a full Mugen lip kit which was painted to match the rest of the car. The leather seats were swapped out for SR4 Recaros. Practicality is a must when your car gets tracked often. As you can tell by the wear on the seats, the car has definitely been put to use. The K20Z1 is breathing through an Injen CAI (Cold Air Intake) and expelling gasses through 4-2-1 TODA headers and a Spoon N1 catback exhaust. A Hondata KPRO is the brain of the Type S which assists in pushing out 140kW at the wheels. In the male dominated car scene, Julie needed something which shows style and sophistication. This Luxury DC5 which Julie has owned since she obtained her license has been transformed to suit her. To get the car rolling, Julie has staggered BBS LM’s with 18×8 +35 up front and 18×9 +35 in the rear. To hold them in place are Work RS wheel nuts. The wheels are wrapped in 215/40 Toyo T1R’s. To stop the tyres rubbing, Tein Basic coilovers have been installed all around. To give this car the attitude it deserved a Type R wing was added and custom plates were put on. Julie has installed a Spoon air filter to help the K20A breathe. Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.
