Words: Jason De Photography: Variety of Photographers. Some say a car is an extension of your body, a reflection on your personality. You share so many good and bad moments together. For me owning my KE70 was more than just a means of transport. It was freedom. The freedom to drive around aimlessly, see friends and of course commute to work. First purchasing this car stock standard as the 3rd owner was great! It had 4 new tyres, body was fairly decent and the best bit, it only cost me $750 clams with 6 months rego! SCORE! After owning it for less than a week BA rear king springs were inserted into the rear and fronts were cut. Such a nasty ride once the shocks gave out. The idea was to source 86 parts but hey life goes on. Soon enough the diff pulled out, cleaned with a toothbrush and welded. It never did let go and it has been welded for over 2 years! A couple of weeks later i had a stack. To hard, too soon. This is probably the reason for most of my defects. Rolling around without a front bar can attract the wrong attention real fast! As the life of the Corolla continued it got painted a couple of times, Different wheels, different colours. Basically things you could afford to do on a part time wage. Interior bits and pieces magically grew stickers all over them, door trims got painted. I was bored and creative. I can’t say that this car got good attention but it was fun and i really enjoyed every moment of it. Here are some photographs during my ownership of the Corolla (no particular order). So enjoy them! PS: Sorry to the grammar natzi’s! Day 1. When i picked her up! Paulie from Justice Crew came to check out the new wheels! TAFE assignment (Graphic Design) which we had to create a colour wheel. I took it literally! 25mm spacers because Fitment Freak! Handed this in! This seat cost more in defects than it did to purchase. LOL. Bout that life. Glow in the dark paint. Boot Full o Paint! 4KC pedal pusher. Aleks at the wash. Always rolling the three around. Best Days! Photoshoot life! Yes i drove around with these on. Yes i got away from the police at times but YES they did catch me, on my birthday Window Tints thanks to my man at Custom Kid Industries! M A G I C ! Fitment Freak Brothers! R U N. Dripping. About that 70 Life.

Another great showing from the Melbourne scene with over 400 cars in attendance, this was by far the biggest JDMST meet in Melbourne. This month the location was DFO in Essendon, with a sufficient amount of lighting compared to previous months made taking photos a pleasure. It was a shame that the lights were switched off at 7:30pm turning the whole car park pitch black, also with the presence of the police department meant that many people decided to leave. Here are some of my favorite shots of the night: R34 GTR VSPEC II – One of the best looking asses in the game. RA22 Celica – By far one of my favorites, always great to see some old school JDM kept in prestige condition. Was great to see the boys from Seeker Motorsports bringing out there R35 GTR and Chargespeed STI. 2 clean GTR’s side by side Fitted S15’s The number plate says it all – MAJIKL Bayside Blue R34 GTR Gunmetal S15 sitting on some SSR SP1 Stance S15 + S14 Wagon R+ nice and phat Mex racing RX7 Dans super clean B4 Liberty Always great to see an AE86 kept in its original form It was a pleasure shooting the event and I thoroughly look forward to next month. If you would like some wallpaper size shots contact Robert on his Facebook page HERE.

What a better way to start off 2012 than with a End of Month Meet put together by Justin Fox, the owner of JDMST. JDMST is one of the biggest car forums currently operating all around Australia. Its operations are based from a factory in Leichardt, Sydney known as Zen Garage. Not only does Justin run various other websites from this location, he is also an authorized seller of the Illest clothing brand. We decided to call some of our close mates prior to the meet to cruise down together in true JDM style. The meet was set to take place in Tempe’s newly built IKEA store. Upon arrival at 6:50PM with the meet set at a 7PM start, we were glad to see a small group of cars had already congregated. Given one of the owners of Fitment Freaks owns a KE70, we had to share the love of this pig! Although the e30 is not a Japanese vehicle, it is favorited by many and also one of the cleanest we have seen in a long time! By 7:15PM we saw ourselves back behind the wheel of our cars yet again. The weather was looking dull and with the security on our backs we were forced to move to the next spot, Tempe Park. Function >Form Homemade tattoo? Fitment Freaks very own Jason De Gouveia with Alex Vitaz admiring a 4AGE Blacktop 20V Conversion. The smell of a god amongst mortals. Regardless of race, religion, gender or age when it comes to a passion we all share and love, we unite as a community. The team at Fitment Freaks had a great time and look forward to future JDMST meets.
